In March 2023, Mia was awarded the first Nancy Swanson Company Award from the Illinois Association for Music Therapy for her focused service to the profession. She has also previously served around the regional conference planning committees which is a Recurrent presenter at conferences and at surrounding Midwest universities on topics which includ
